CMS Network – the leading mail, courier and logistics specialist, part of The Delivery Group, has signed a three year, high-value deal with the world leading publishing and events company Hearst UK, for the provision of full mailroom management services at Hearst’s new flagship home in the heart of Leicester Square, Central London. The all-encompassing contract includes the supply of full inbound and outbound mail, UK, International and same day couriers, warehousing and dedicated transport services as a one-stop-shop offering.

Hearst’s recent relocation to its new smart-working environment in Leicester Square, where the company occupies five floors, created the need to overhaul the historic mailroom and courier operation. After an extensive tender exercise, CMS was selected as the single source supplier to overcome the challenges of having a central London location with limited access and storage space. Working closely with CMS, Hearst was able to modernise its mailroom operation, focusing on delivering best service, whilst driving maximum cost efficiency.

Under the terms of the deal, CMS provides off-site warehousing located near central London and dedicated resources to accept incoming deliveries and fully track them for onward delivery to and from the Hearst UK office and destinations across the globe. CMS also provides full inventory management of all stock requiring ongoing storage.

Dedicated tracked and secure shuttle vehicles run between the CMS and Hearst sites throughout the day to allow goods to be transferred on and off site quickly, minimising the space required for storage within the new Hearst offices. This also minimises the number of incoming couriers delivering to Hearst daily, reducing congestion and improving the company’s carbon footprint.
Inbound mail is collected from Royal Mail each morning, sorted off site and delivered into Hearst presented ready for internal delivery. Outbound mail is processed via the CMS state-of-the-art sorting machine to maximise postal efficiency, also taking an image of every mail item processed for added security and integrity. Additionally, all same day, international and UK couriers are managed via CMS as part of the one-stop solution.

Mark Calladine, Managing Director of CMS comments: “In common with many businesses, Hearst UK has chosen to adopt a new smart working environment in shared premises. These facilities have limited space and access to efficiently handle high volumes of deliveries in and out of the building. Hearst recognised this issue and we are delighted that they chose CMS as their expert delivery partner. We have the innovation, scale and knowledge to deliver a dynamic and efficient service that dovetails seamlessly with the everyday running of the new smart building.”
Sophie Wilkinson, Head of Editorial Operations at Hearst comments: “We selected CMS as our partner to manage our mailroom, courier and logistics requirements as they listened and provided innovative solutions to the challenges we faced. CMS is proactive and customer focused and able to customise its solutions to meet our changing business needs. We look forward to continuing our partnership.”
